#Where is each batch?
You have one batch of Innovator 35/55, but the boxes are not all in the same cold room. How many are in each place? In HeyStack, you record the batch by cold room and row. You can see the number of boxes without comparing separate lists.
That is batch registration: keeping track of what you have in each batch, how much is left and where it is stored.
#What details do you record for each batch?
Add a stored item in the right site, cold room and row. Enter a name and size, choose the packaging unit and set the quantity. Add an origin and description if they matter to your business.
Is the same batch stored in more than one place? Record the quantity at each place. The overall inventory brings those quantities together.

#Track one batch, or every box separately?
Have 80 boxes from the same batch, with no need to know which specific box leaves? Record 80 boxes as one total at their storage position. If 20 leave, 60 remain.
Need to find a particular box or big bag? Record it as a unique item. When moving or shipping stock, you can choose which physical package goes.
Choose what fits your work. Recording every package takes more time; a total is enough when the boxes are interchangeable.
Start with one batch. Record what it is, how much you have and where it is stored. Then decide whether one total is enough or you need to track every box separately. Start for free or download the app.
#How do you track changes to a batch?
Are boxes added or taken away? Update the quantity when it happens. In the transactions, you can see how much was added or removed, when it happened and who recorded it.
Move a batch to another row? Its new position appears in your inventory overview. You can find the move in the activity log.
When grading by size, you can split total stock into new sizes and record rejects. This helps explain the new quantities.
#Which products can you track by batch?
HeyStack is used for potatoes, onions, carrots, flower bulbs and fruit. You can record stock in boxes, big bags or bins.
Use details your colleagues already use on site. For potatoes, that might be variety and size. Add the origin when you need to tell batches from different fields apart.
